Tutorials and club meeting

Monday - Tuesday, November 18-19

  1. Students should complete a TRF first. 
  2. When their TRF is complete (they know what this is), then give them the Race Relations handout.
  3. For the handout, they should answer all the questions on their own piece of paper.  They can write the reflection on the back. 
  4. 2 questions for each level of inquiry on the topics from the handout.
  5. If they finish, AVID time – Students should use the time to planner, binder, homework, note, to do list, etc.  This is not free time.

1.       Which career cluster are you researching first?

3.       What did you learn on this page about your career cluster?
Explore the careers under this cluster (click on careers).
4.       How many careers were found?
5.      Which careers were the most interesting to you at first glance? (list at least 3)
6.      Of the careers you explored:
a.      Which had the highest wages and what were they?
b.      Which had the highest growth rate?  What was that rate?
c.       What did you notice about the education needed?
d.      What fields of study were recommended?
e.      What were some of the work tasks listed that interested you?
7.      Continue to explore careers within this cluster until you find a career you might want to pursue.  Change to another cluster if necessary.
8.      Once you have found a career that interests you, answer the following questions about that career:

b.      Growth Rate?
c.       Education needed?
d.      Fields of Study (major) recommended?
9.      Go to the university you would like to attend.  See if they offer the degree you need for that career.
10.  If not, find another university that does offer.  Find at least one university IN THE STATE OF FLORIDA that offers your chosen field of study.

Thursday I was out sick, but all AVID students should have completed their tutorials and turned in all TRF papers.

Friday:

11th:  Continued public speaking assignment, presenting a set of academic Cornell Notes to their classmates.
10th:  Acted out (charades style) their vocabulary words.  Test will be given next week.
9th:  Recreated the rubric for a life goals essay, which will be written in class.
